Peter Wilson Combs, son of Samuel Peter and Martha Armstrong Combs, was born Dec. 10, 1873 near the Old Tunnel Mill at Denver, and died on July 2, 1977 at the Worth County Convalescent Center, Grant City.

Combs was the last member of a large pioneer family consisting of five sisters and seven brothers. He was a member of the Seventh Day Advent Church. After the death of his father in 1896, he continued to make his home with his mother and two of his brothers until his marriage to Clara Rice on March 10, 1918. His entire life was spent in Worth County and Ringgold Couty, Iowa. His wife died in June 1926, and he lived near and in Allendale until entering the Convalescent Center in 1971. He was a charter member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, Allendale. This charter membership paper is in the Agriculture Hall of Fame, Bonner Springs, Kas.

Combs is survived by four step-children Leslie Ric, Grand Island, Neb; Edith Rice and Earl Rice of California; and Dale Rice of Salt Lake City, Utah. One sister-in-law Gussie Combs, Worth, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Services were held July 5 at the Allendale Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Arch Findley. Arrangements were by Prugh-Dunfee.
