The funeral of Professor Robert Sterrett, 53, who died Friday at his home at Monterey following a heart attack, was held at 4 p.m. yesterday at the residence. The service was conducted by the Rev. A. E. Johnson of the Presbyterian Church, assisted by the Rev., J. H. Light of the Methodist Church.
For the past six years he had been principal of the Monterey High School. Prior to that he was mathematics instructor at Staunton Military Academy. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss. Martha Jones, sister of State Treasurer Edwin B. Jones; two sons, Douglas and Robert, Jr. of Monterey; two brothers, S. Tate Sterrett, Staunton, and Felix F. Sterrett of Buena Vista, and a sister, Miss. Nannie K. Sterrett of Staunton. He was a son of the late Samuel W. and Ida Kincaid Sterrett."
He was buried in the Monterey Cemetery, Monterey, Highland County, Virginia.
