He made his acting debut as a chorus boy in London at age 25 after service during WWI. His American film debut came in 1929 in 'The Battle of Paris'. Treacher seemed to be Hollywood's idea of the perfect butler, and headlined as the quintessential butler Jeeves in 1936's ‘Thank You, Jeeves' and ‘Step Lively, Jeeves'. Other films included ‘Heidi' in 1937 with Shirley Temple; ‘The Little Princess' in 1939, again with Shirley Temple; and ‘Mary Poppins' in 1964 which was his last big screen role. During his later years he lent his name to a fast food chain known as Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips. Treacher's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is located at 6250 Hollywood Blvd. His birthday has been listed alternately as July 21, 23, and 24 in biographies. (bio by: Cinnamonntoast4)
