Mary Aiello (Aunty Mary), 97, of 364 Davi Avenue, Pittsburg, passed away on March 3, 2011.
A lifelong resident of Pittsburg, she was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio Aiello and Francesca LoCoco Aiello, her brother, Jack (Marti), and sisters Rosalien and Josephine. She is survived by her loving family including brother Peter (Dolores), and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces.
Aunty Mary was devoted to her family, and her family will forever treasure the memory of her love, giving spirit, and her most beautiful smile.
Mary loved to cook and took great care in preparing the absolute best raviolis any Italian family could hope for each Christmas. As hard as she tried to teach her nieces, we all know none of us will ever hold a candle to Aunty's raviolis.
She led a quiet life devoted to her family. Mary was a humble servant of God, waking up each and every morning at 5:00 a.m. to say the rosary and read her morning prayers. She showed much compassion and care for others, even as the end was near and she herself was failing. She tread lightly in this world, loving much, laughing much, and touching the lives and hearts of those around her.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., followed by the rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Good Shepherd Church, Pittsburg. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch. A celebration of Aunty Mary's life will be held after the burial services.
My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoice in God my Savior. Published in the Contra Costa Times on March 5, 2011.
