BIG SPRING, Md. — Ray Newton Blair Sr., 80, of Big Spring, Md., passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
Born April 25, 1930, in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late George Brothernton Blair and Laura Helen "Drury" Blair.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Beverly Jane "Bowers" Blair, in 2000.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.
He retired from Pangborn in 1991 after 35 years of employment. He was a Cedar Lawn missionary.
He was a lifetime member of the Joseph C. Herbert American Legion, Post 222, of Clear Spring, VFW Post 6241, Mercersburg Sportsmen's Association, Inc., Clear Spring Ambulance Club, Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co., AMVETS Post 10 of Hagerstown, Antietam Volunteer Fire Co., and the Mercersburg, Pa. Moose.
He is survived by two daughters, four sons, one sister, one brother, 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn J. Ryan; son-in-law, Joseph C. Mundey; three sisters, Stella Bailey, Ruth Mundey, and Hester Stevens; 9 brothers, Dwight Blair, Dick Blair, Harry Paulsgrove, John Blair, Samuel Blair, Dan Blair, Bruce Blair, Dallas Blair, and Mason B. Mundey Sr.; and a great-granddaughter.
Burial will be in Little Rose Hill Cemetery in Clear Spring with military honors by the AMVETS Post 10 of Hagerstown and the Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
