|Birth: ||1799, Wales|
|Death: ||Oct. 12, 1865|
Born about 1799 in Wales. Married Elizabeth Edwards, 23 Dec 1824 in Clydey, Pembrokeshire. With at least 6 of their children, they immigrated to Pennsylvania about 1838. They had an additional two sons in Pennsylvania before Elizabeth's death in 1843. About 1844 Samuel became disabled and was unable to support his children. Some of the older boys set out on their own; other children were placed in foster homes or orphanages in the Pittsburgh area. Samuel remained in the Pittsburgh area under poor circumstances until sometime around 1865, when his son, William, brought him to Lawrence to live his last days in comfort.
Two additional sons not yet linked are Thomas and Samuel.
