Benedict "Benny" Peer, 85, a Humboldt resident, passed away peacefully late Thursday evening, June 4, 2009 at his sons' home surrounded by his family. He was born March 13, 1924 in the Town of Eaton to the late George and Nettie (Jurczykowski) Peer. Benny served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 until his discharge in 1946. He married the former Evelyn Micke on June 28, 1947 at St Mary Church in Kaukauna. Benny retired from Procter & Gamble on July 19, 1999 after 52 years of service. He began his employment on April 23, 1947 at the Hoberg Paper Company as a converting helper. Benny saw many changes throughout his career at P & G and was extremely proud of his work and the friendship earned from many co-workers. He was born on the family farm in Eaton and farming remained in his heart. Benny not only operated his own farm but supported his parents' farm and his brother's farm as well as a regular at the local farm auctions. He enjoyed music, especially going to the Porterfield Festival, the Hodag in Rhinelander and the Motongator Fest in Wallace, MI. He enjoyed going up north with Evelyn to the cottage at Thunder Lake in Crivitz. While up north, they enjoyed eating at Shaeffer Park and Renne's Supper Club. The Redwood Inn was a favorite in Green Bay. He enjoyed following the Packers and was an avid fan. Benny was a member of P.N.A. and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Sugar Bush. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and their seven children; Nancy (Gary)Blavat, Green Bay, Ronald (Mary), Green Bay, Thomas (Pat), Shawano, David (Verna), Luxemburg, Robert, New Denmark, Benedict Jr. (Lynne), Town of Eaton, and Gregory (Cheri) Peer, Green Bay; 12 special grandchildren, Sherry (Chris), Jennifer (Kenny), Michelle (Rich), Stacy, Stephanie, Jamie, Kathryn, Michael, Tammy, William, Tracy and Sheila; five great-grandchildren, Karissa, Lincoln, Luci, Olympia and Rubi; three sisters, Leona Rondou, Green Bay, Victoria Martin, DePere and Anna (Richard) DuBois, Green Bay; two brothers, Andrew (Janice), Bakersfield, CA and Myron "Mike" (Lynn)Peer, Town of Eaton; one brother-in-law, Don Broekman, Athelstane,four sisters-in-law, Josie Kolark, NV, Martha Derecks, Rosie (Ozzie) Johnson, Little Chute, Joanne Verkuilen, Kaukauna, three brothers-in-law, Harold (Judi) Micke, Crivitz, Kenneth (Carol) Micke, Clarence (Joyce) Micke, all of Kaukauna, nieces and nephews and five god-children, Vicki, Debbie, Steve, Jimmy and Kim. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael, four brothers, Joseph, Harry, John and Chester Peer; one sister, Edna Broekman and one god-child, Curtis; his in-laws, Peter and Josephine (DeWilde) Micke, four sisters-in-law, Lorraine Stebane, Stephanna Ziesmer, Lorraine Peer and Mary Peer; four brothers-in-law, Peter Micke, George Derecks, Don Verkuilen and Gordy Ziesmer. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4-8 pm Monday and after 9:30 am Tuesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Rd until time of Mass. Parish wake service 7:30 pm Monday, Mass of Christian burial 10:30 am Tuesday at the Church with Rev. Ron Belitz officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
