Carlise, Pa., Oct. 15 - Mrs. Jennie W. Machlin, aged 49, wife of James Machlin, a well-known butcher of Plainfield, Cumberland county (sic), died Thursday evening shortly after 7 o'clock at her home. Mrs. Machlin, was formerly Miss Jennie Wetzel, daughter of the late Ephraim M. Wetzel, for many years a well-known contractor of this place. She was born in Carlisle in 1882 (sic) and received her early education here. Following her marriage she removed with her husband to Plainfield, where she has resided the past sixteen years.
For many years she has been a member of the First Lutheran Church, of Carlisle, and was active in the various departments of the church. She was especially interested in the Missionary Society of the First Lutheran Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by one brother, W. Abner Wetzel, of Carlisle, a Pennsylvania railroad conductor, and three sisters, Miss Minnie Wetzel, at home, Mrs. Edwin Miller, of 636 Harris street (sic), Harrisburg, and Mrs. Newton C. Wert, of Carlisle. Mrs. Machlin's mother died three weeks ago.
Funeral services will be held in the Wetzel home, 428 South Hanover street (sic), Monday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Mausoleum at Chambersburg. Mrs. Machlin was well-known in Harrisburg, where she resided at one time.
