Andy was born in Columbia, TN. He graduated from Dyersburg High School and had his science fair project on radio waves selected to be entered in the Seattle World Fair in 1962. He worked as a computer programmer and professional photographer. The latter endeavor won him several awards. He held amateur radio call sign K4ZLC from 1958 until his death. He was the ARES Emergency Coordinator for Benton Co. MS. To quote one fellow radio ham,"He's not really dead, he's just gone QSY to a higher frequency."
