Last Rites at Gildford for Marius Hanson

Funeral services for Marius Hanson were held Friday afternoon from the Lutheran church ten miles south of Gildford, the Rev. E.E. Ramsey conducting the service.

The church was filled with friends and relatives and many beautiful floral offerings were banked about the casket. The pallbearers were all near neighbors of the deceased. Rev. Ramsey too his text from Psalms 84-12. The male quartet of Gildford composed of Messrs. Hertsgaard, Brown, Stephenson, and Mundenck, sang "Going Down the Valley," "Home," and "Rock of Ages."

Marius Hanson was born in Norden, Odalen, Norway, Nov. 12, 1868. He was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Odalen. In May 1888, Mr. Hanson came to America and settled in Minneapolis. A few years later he moved to Litchfield, N.D., where he led an orchestra and band in addition to his regular occupation as carpenter. In 1909 he was married to Miss Clara Twedt. In the fall of 1919, Mr. and Mrs. Hanson and family came to Montana, settling on a farm south of Gildford. He became ill and passed away at a Havre hospital Dec. 17, at the age of 66 years.

The survivors are his wife, and five children, Hans O., Bernard M., Finn A. Borghild Martha, Mabel C.; also two brothers, Frederick and Finn living in Odalen.

He was active in church work. He had helped to build the church in which the final service for him was held and it is his joy to be laid to rest with those who joined hands with him to build this sanctuary.
