INDIAHOMA Funeral for Clifton Daniel Hannabass, 93, Indiahoma, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel with Kirk Graves officiating.
Clifton died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at his home in Indiahoma.
Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery, Indiahoma.
He was born Dec. 21, 1917, at the family farm southwest of Indiahoma, to Daniel W. and Lillian B. Chandler Hannabass.
Clifton was raised and attended school in the Indiahoma and Chattanooga area. His father died when Clifton was a young child which eventually forced him to leave school early in order to help the family make ends meet. He farmed, ranched and ran a service station in Indiahoma for almost 50 years. He eventually left the service station business in the mid 1980's but continued ranching and spending time with his cows until his health finally forced him to retire in 2002. Clifton was from the old school - family was your life, while work and hobby were the same activity, and you did them every day, and to the best of your ability.
Survivors include his wife, Dora, of the home; children: Linda Sue Van Antwerp and her husband, Joe, of Paradise Valley; Don Hannabass and wife, Sharon, of Indiahoma; Darwin and Jan Hannabass, of Paradise Valley; Brent Keith Hannabass and wife, Joni, of Stillwater; Kevin Earl Hannabass, of Indiahoma; Debra Frances Laird, of Cyril; Verda Joyce Langford and husband, Gordon, of Indiahoma; and Karen Sue Fite and husband, Billy, of Durant; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Clifton outlived many of his close friends, but he leaves a great many friends he has made through the years from his time at the service station, and as a school board member and respected citizen of Indiahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mona Jean Taylor; a son, Carl Wayne Stirber; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Earl and Roy Hannabass; and one sister, Maybelle Uhls.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
