OBITUARY - JAMES RICHARDSON
James RICHARDSON, son of William and Ellen RICHARDSON, was born in Schuykill County, Pennsylvania, on July 8, 1853, and passed away at his home in Kellerton, Iowa, September 29, 1921, aged 68 years, 2 months and 21 days.
His father and mother came to this country from Glascow, Scotland, first settling in Pennsylvania, and later at Fairfield, Iowa. From there they came to Ringgold County. James was the second child of a family of eleven children of whom one brother and sister died in early childhood and another sister, Mrs. Agnes BOOTH, having departed this life in January, 1921.
At Stockton, Kansas, November 11, 1879, he was united in marriage to Malinda Jane WARREN. To this union were born four children, one son, James William of Lamoni, three daughters, Mrs. Lizzie E. TOWNSLEY of Leon, Iowa; Mrs. Mary A. GUESS, of Lamoni, Iowa and Mrs. Jennie Mae LESAN, of Torrington, Wyoming.
In 1888, he was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, living faithful to his belief to the end. With the exception of ten years in Rooks County, Kansas, he has lived most of his life in Ringgold County, Iowa. He has a large circle of friends and acquaintances having served his county two terms as member of the Board of Supervisors.
He had been a patient sufferer for a period of over eight years, bearing his affliction bravely and cheerfully, never complaining and always thinking of the comfort of others, rather than of himself.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a loving and devoted wife, one son and three daughters, all of whom were at his bedside when death came, three grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters, one aged uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. BRADLEY of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from the residence, Sunday, Oct. 2, 1921, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. BENNETT, assisted by Rev. LISTER. Interment was made in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
