Samuel worked in the shipyards during World War II and worked on the Delta-Mendota Canal. He was a carpenter for 20 years.
Mr. Howell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mabel P. Howell, sons, Randy Howell, Larry Howell and Gary Howell, daughter, Jeanie (Howell) Frankenstein, sister, Mavie Margaret (Howell) Detherow-Keys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi Samuel Howell and Emma Pearl (Chapman) Howell, brothers, R.T. Howell and Doyle Howell; sisters, Hazel Oveton (Howell) Stinnet, Ella Jewell (Howell) Stinnet and Lela Pearl (Howell) Bowman.
