Birth: May 10, 1804
Georgia, USA
Death: Jul. 1, 1879
Pulaski County
Georgia, USA

Mary's parents are not certain. Soon after her wedding, she and her husband applied to be guardians of the minor orphans of Francis Pugh. There was also a Thomas Pugh who died around this time, leaving orphans. Up until her marriage, Mary was likely one of these minor orphans herself, being only 15 in 1819. Mary was born in the area that became Laurens Co. in 1807. It was probably Montgomery Co. in 1804. She married Jacob Watson II (c1794-aft1865) on August 17, 1819 in Dublin, Laurens Co., GA. They settled in the area of Hawkinsville, Jacob's residence since around 1811, where he served as a lawyer. They had 9 children. She was one of the first 5 members of the 1st Methodist Church of Hawkinsville. Around 1840, they moved south to the Stockton area in Clinch Co. Jacob died shortly after 1865, probably in the Clinch Co. area. He was the son of a Jacob Watson (1747-aft1811) of Edgefield Dist., SC, who is almost surely the son of John Elijah Watson (1717-1791) and Ann Blair Murphy (1721-1795). Both Jacobs moved to the Pulaski Co. area about 1811, but the elder one is said to have moved on to TN. After her husband's death, Mary followed her son Jacob back to Hawkinsville.
