Birth: Oct. 28, 1784
Montgomery County
North Carolina, USA
Death: Jun. 16, 1858

Loyd Rowland with his wife and family were one of the early pioneer settlers to migrate to the western county of Carroll in Tennesse. They started their travels from Montgomery county, North Carolina in the year of 1827, with a new baby born that June and arrived in 1829. This was a very tiring journey made by wagon.
They settled in the Hollow Rock area. In about the year 1833 Rowland put into operation a water-powered grist mill, located at Big Sandy River south of Hollow Rock on Rowland Mill Road, as it is now named.
