ELSIE JACOBSON

Elsie Norma Jacobson, 83, Fertile, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston.

Elsie Gullickson was born April 2, 1922, to Gullick and Minnie (Erickson) Gullickson in Fertile. She was baptized May 21, 1922 in Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal.

When she was a child, her family moved to farm near Fertile, where she attended Giant Oak Country School. Following her schooling, she worked as domestic help for Rev. P. M. Trelstad.

On Nov. 6, 1940 she married Raymond Jacobson at Faaberg Lutheran Church. They farmed in Bear Park Township until moving to a house her husband and his brother, Joe, built in Fertile.

She was employed by Bergeson Nursery for many years.

In 1975, the couple owned and operated a sanitation business. They retired in 1977 but continued to work together salvaging wood and building materials from old buildings and also cut firewood. They used the salvaged materials to make storage sheds and doghouses, which they sold throughout the area.

In 2001, she moved to the nursing home.

She is survived by two sons, Norman (Bonnie) of Minot, N.D. and Maynard (Elaine) of Mandan, N.D.; two daughters, Emily (Ted) Veen of Fargo, N.D. and Nancy Jacobson of Crookston; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine (Morris) Larson of Fertile; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; a son, Robert (Jake); five brothers and three sisters.

The funeral was today (Wednesday) in Faaberg Lutheran Church with Rev. H. William Beyer officiating. Dorothy Harstad was the organist with special music by Rev. Bill and Almina Beyer.
