Alta was born, Alta Bernice Peach, in La Veta, CO. After spending her childhood in Southern Colorado her family moved to Fountain where she met and married her beloved husband, Earl Baker on June 12, 1959.

After marriage they moved to Hanover, CO. Alta devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Alta passed away on October 30, 2008 at the Center at Centennial after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by Earl on January 17, 2000. She is survived by son, Buckley Baker and wife Nadine of Spearville, KS; their children, Kymberly, Lucas and Chelsi and Buck's daughter, Teari Van Horn of Dodge City, KS; Great grandsons, Kolt McGuin, US Navy, Japan, Dustyn Crockett, US Army/National Guard, Dodge City, KS; great granddaughter, Shelby Taulman and great great granddaughter, Kameron Whitman of Dodge City, KS. Son, Creston Baker and partner Jonathan Endicott of South Pasadena, CA. Daughter, Derella Lenz of Fountain, CO. Granddaughters, Kelli Lenz of Greeley, CO; Megan and Jennifer Lenz of Fountain, CO. Brothers, Tom Peach and wife Marilyn of Black Forest, CO and Rubin Peach and wife Kathy of Hanover, CO.

While we will miss her dearly, we take comfort that she is now at peace and no longer in pain. We will celebrate her new journey and the time we had with her here on Earth!

A memorial will be held at Hanover Community Church, 17480 S. Peyton Hwy., Colorado Springs, CO, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hanover Community Church in Alta's name as the church was a wonderful source of comfort and support for both her and Earl.
