| Birth: | May 3, 1832 | | Death: | Aug. 28, 1914 |  Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. He entered his Civil War service with a commission of Captain in the 11th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He was then assigned to serve as the Assistant Adjutant General on the staff of Major General William H.L. Wallace, then on the staff of Major General. John A. McClernand. Finally, he was advanced to Colonel, and was named the commander of the 89th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volulunteers on March 13, 1865 for "gallant and meritorious services during the war". After the war he became a prominent hotel proprietor in Chicago.
