Darrell Bell, of Naturita, died June 2, 1998 at the Southwest Basin Clinic following a sudden illness. He was 67.
Funeral services were held on June 5, a the Trinity Baptist Church in Naturita, with Pastor Rick Luster officiating. Burial followed at the Nucla Cemetery.
Mr. Bell was born on October 28, 1930 in Mancos Canyon, to George and Gweneth Funk Bell. He spent his childhood in the West End graduating from Nucla High School.
On June 1, 1965, he married Develva "Dee" Bell in Montrose, she survives. Previously, he was married to Betty Moore. They divorced.
Mr. Bell was a resident of Naturita for 66 years. Before retiring, he was co-owner of the Bell-McLeroy Mining Company and was employed at the Vandaium Corporation of American Mill in Naturita.
He attended the Trinity Baptist Church in Naturita. He was a former trustee for the Town of Naturita. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, entering in 1952.
Mr. Bell loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dee, of Naturita; sons, Glenn (Martha) Bell of Tioga, LA, Harold Bell of Nucla, Darrell (Lori) Randall of Thompson Springs, UT, and Michael Glenn Bell of Naturita; daughters, Debbie (Randy) Randall of Winnemucca, NV, Kathy (Lloyd) Swenson of Moab, Ut, Tina (Walter) Hannigan of Grand Junction, and Pat Bell Rivera of Naturita; a brother Frank (Francis) Bell of Nucla; sister Nellie (Bill) Knight of Naturita; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
