Reidsville - Thomas J. Hill, 58, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. He was a native of Bulloch County. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He received his bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, where he also taught for two years.
He reeived his master's degree and his doctorate from the University of Florida at Gainesville. He also taught at the University of Florida and the P.K. Younge School. He was a professor of education at Rochester University in Rochester, N.Y., for 18 years until his recent retirement.
He also co-authored a book about elementary school which was used in the New York Public School System. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Brooklet.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas K. Hill of Binghampton, N.Y., and Harry A. Hill of Albany, N.Y.; a daughter, Miss Rebecca Hill of Reidsville; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma McElveen of Savannah and Mrs. Nellie H. Jones of Brooklet; and three brothers, Ward E. Hill of Savannah and Wilton and Cecil Hill, both of Reidsville.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today in Brooklet City Cemetery. Smith-Tillman Mortuary of Statesboro is in charge.
