In 1924, a presumed heir to the throne of Russia, whose real name was Anna Anderson, publicly declared herself to be Anastasia. After several investigations and trials, the alleged heir was declared to be an imposter. Anastasia's true remains, after DNA testing, are resting in the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul.
