Graveside services will be at the West Side District Cemetery on Thursday at 2: p.m. for Taft resident Melvin Ray Abney, Sr. He passed away on January 16, 1998, at 51 years of age.
Mr. Abney was born on June 15, 1946. He attended local Schools, and graduated form Taft High in 1964. He went to work in the oil fields as a mechanic, where he worked for many years. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed many hours riding in the nearby hills and cross country.
He is survived by his mother, two sons, his two daughters, his grandchildren, his four brothers, his sister,and special friends. Preceding him in death was his father Daniel Leo Abney.
Visitation will be in the Taft Funeral Home on Wednesday from Noon to 5 p.m.
Services have been entrusted to the Taft Funeral Home. Order of the Golden Rule.
