HOMER R. WARD JR.

LIMESTONE - Homer R. Ward Jr., 79, husband of Julia (Griffeth) Ward, passed away Feb. 7, 2004, in Caribou, after a brief illness. He was born May 19, 1924, the son of Chrystal and Homer Ward. Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was recalled for the Korean War in 1950, and joined the Army National Guard, where he progressed through the ranks, retiring in 1984, as a Colonel. Bob spent his life farming. He was active in town politics and served on various committees. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veteran's of Foreign Affairs, and the Limestone United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; his three children, Billie Ann, Gregory and his wife, Nancy, and Constance; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard; and two sisters, Patricia Kilpatrick and Sharon Fuehrer. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Bob's life 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Limestone United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating. A visitation period will take place 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. A reception will follow the service in the church dining hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Limestone United Methodist Church, the Robert Frost Memorial Library or to a charity of choice. Arrangements by the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou.
