At an early hour this morning at the family home. No. 403 East Second street, occurred the death of Andreas Bender, an old and highly respected citizen of Waterloo. Mr. Bender was feeling well as usual last evening and ate supper with the family. At three o'clock this morning he awoke and complained of a difficulty in breathing and got out of bed into an easy chair. It was a sudden and severe return of an asthmatic trouble from which he had suffered periodically for many years. Everything possible was done to relieve his suffering, but he failed, rapidly, passing away at six o'clock.

Mr. Bender was born in Werschausen, by Marburg, Hessen-Nassau, Germany. November 18th, 1827, and was 69 years, 2 months and 22 days of age. He was married to Miss Magaretta Schuler on the 7th of August, 1860. His wife and six children survive him. The children are J. H., E. L., Bertha E. and Anna D., of this city, G. E. Bender, of Paterson, New Jersey, and Mrs. J. D. Finch, of West Union, Iowa.

The deceased has been a resident of Waterloo since early in the year 1861. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. There will be a prayer at the house and the remains will then be taken to the Emanuel German Evangelical church, where the pastor, Rev. Theodore Wolfram will deliver the funeral address Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.
