MANASAH ALKIRE TRUMBO was born 15 Sept 1801 in Bath Co., KY. He married HANNAH TAYLOR who was born 3 Oct 1798 in TN. They were married 1 Nov 1821 inBath County. She died 22 Apr 1869 in Linn Co., Missouri. Both of them areburied in the Dryden Cemetery four miles north of Linneus, Linn Co.,

He spent most of his life in Bath Co., Kentucky, but in the fall of 1853 moved with his wife and several of their children to Linn County, Missouri. He was a farmer while in Kentucky. They brought several slaves with them to
Missouri. They drove with four or six oxen in covered wagons, the men and slaves walking. The women and household possessions were hauled in the wagons. Manasah was said to have a peg leg, one havng been cut off, but there is no record of how or when. According to deeds and other records in Linn County, he owned several farms or acreages in Linn County and in Grundy County, Missouri.

Manasah was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bath County, Kentucky. He brought with him from Kentucky a sheep skin showing he was a member in good standing and which authorized him to visit other Masonic Lodges. The
authorization on the sheep skin was written both in French and English.

Manasah lived in Linn County, Missouri, from 1853 until 1871 when he moved to Springfield, Illinois, and lived with his daughter, Mary Melissa BOYD,until his death on December 4, 1881. His remains were brought to Linneus,Linn County, Missouri. Services were conducted by Jackson Lodge No. 82 A.F.and A.M. before being laid to rest in a grave next to hs wife who preceeded him in death. They had eleven children all born in Bath County, Kentucky
