R.L. Austin, president of the Lucky Strike Mining company, died in Joplin, Mo., on October 24. His home was at Shawnee, where he has lived for the past fifteen years. He was 43 years old, and is survived by a wife and two children, living in Shawnee. Mr. Austin was stricken with Spanish influenza while on a business trip to Joplin. He was well known in Oklahoma City and throughout the state.
