Julia Hash Hitchcock, 88, of Beech Grove, formerly of Delphi, died at 11:40 p.m. Jan. 7, 1998, at Beech Grove Healthcare.

Born Oct. 1, 1909, in Warren County, Tenn., she was the daughter of Jefferson Davis and Mary Alice Miller Hash. Her marriage was on Sept. 5, 1925, in Warren County to Leonard H. Hitchcock. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23,1950.

She was educated in the Campaign Schools in Warren County and was a member of Laurel Creek Baptist Church in Bone Cave, Tenn. She worked at Bryan Manufacturing in Monticello for over 10 years. In 1957, she moved from Delphi to Beech Grove.

Surviving are four daughters, Dorothy Wray, Helen Orr, and Faye Underhill, all of Delphi, and Arminda Bewley of Waco, Texas; a son, Larry Hitchcock of Flora; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, and one grandson.

Services were Monday in McMinnville, Tenn., with burial in Long Cemetery, Van Buren County, Tenn. Local arrangements were by Horn Funeral Home.
