Dau. of Eli Allen & Rebecca Clemens.
Henry News Republican, Thursday, Aug. 7, 1890:
West Oxbow - It is with sadness that we chronicle the death of Julia A., daughter of Eli Allen, who yielded up her life on Saturday, August 2nd, with something like remittent and typhoid fever. She was 10 years, 11 months and 4 days. She died at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George Hildebrand. Her own parents could not have taken better care of her than Mr. and Mrs. Hildebrand. She had the best care and a good doctor but God called her home unto his kingdom and all that loving hands could do could not save her. Elder Wm. A. Thompson of Tonica preached a very appropriate funeral sermon at Sunday at 10:00. A few selected pieces were sung. Afterwards a last look was taken and they sang "Meet me there". There were between 25 and 30 buggies following her remains to Caledonia cemetery. Thus one more little bud has been transplanted into God's garden above and we would say to Mr. Allen and also to Mr. and Mrs. Hildebrand to weep not for Julia for she is better off. Gone to her mother and three little sisters in heaven....
