Walter Durham Passes at 84

Walter Durham, 84, who had resided at 1130 South Main St., passed away in Kalispell Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. Durham was born Aug. 14, 1878, at Crawfordsville, Ind. He received his education in Indiana and taught school for one year there. On June 22, 1909, he was married to Orpha Devitt at Lisbon, N. D. He engaged in farming at Lisbon until 1915 when he came to northern Montana and was again engaged in farming. In 1920, he moved to Glasgow where he lived until coming to Kalispell in 1938. He was operator of the Rapson Service Station here in Kalispell until his retirement.

Mr. Durham was preceded in death by his wife, Orpha, in 1959. He is survived by two sons, Curtis Durham of Kalispell and Joe Durham of Missoula; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Turnacliff of Kalispell, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Johnson Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Interment will follow in the Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
