Fritz Gertz, 80, 1719 East Locust street, passed away at the home of his son Frank Gertz in Brighton, Ia., after an illness of only a few days. Death was caused by heart trouble. He had been visiting at the home of his son for the past two weeks when taken ill.

Mr. Gertz was born in Germany, Oct. 27, 1847 and came to Davenport at the age of 12 years. He was united in marriage to Miss Dina Krone in Davenport, June 2, 1869. His wife preceeded him in death in January 1925.

The following children survive: Frank Gertz, Brighton, Ia., Mrs. John Druehl, Davenport, Mrs. G. Huttig, Muscatine, Ia., Harry Gertz, Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Henry Bertram, Davenport, G. Gertz, Mound, Minn., Arthur Gertz, Maple Plain, Minn., Edwin Gertz, Davenport, and Mrs. John Fryer, Davenport; 26 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; Mrs. Mary Wiese of Eldridge, a sister, also survives.

The remains will arrive in Davenport this evening and will be taken to Nissen & Hartwig funeral parlors. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
