Stephen James "Steve" Herda, age 60, of Waverly passed away on Jul 4, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on Jun 23, 1949 in Northfield the son of Joseph A. & Anna S. Mussche Herda.
Steve graduated from St. Mary's High School in Waverly in 1967.
He honorably served his Country in The United States Navy from Apr 15, 1968 until Apr 15, 1970.
Steve was employed at Omann brothers, Inc. as a Estimator/Salesman since 1982.
He was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of St. Mary in Waverly.
Steve played and coached fast pitch softball from 1972 until 2008. His fives sons and nephew also played with him.
He was fond of his home in Woodland Township, Wright County and the thirteen acres it sat on. Steve was an avid Twins and Vikings fan! He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed traveling.
Survived by his five loving sons: Scott (Julie) Herda of Farmington, Jeff (Randi) Herda of Maple Grove, Mike (Monzie) Herda of Waverly, Tom Herda of Maple Lake and Dan Herda of Waverly; eleven grandchildren: Kayla & Emily; Austin & Paige; Olivia & Dillon; Lexi, Haidyn & Hudson; Liam & Kade; loving companion: Ann Barfknecht of Howard Lake; father: Joseph A. Herda of Winsted; brothers & sisters: Joe (Deb) Herda of Tennessee, Dave (Joyce) Herda of Texas, Mary (Steve) Mattson of Eagan, Connie (Jeff) Sterner of Winsted, Jim Herda of Kingston, Terri Hutto of New Ulm and Dan (Jamie) Herda of Texas; many other relatives & friends.
Preceded in death by his mother: Anna Herda, and by two sisters: Debbie Herda and Margie Goepfert.
Interment with military rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Casket Bearers will be Scott, Jeff, Mike, Tom & Dan Herda, Nick Nygaard, Andy Mattson & Lacy Christopherson.
