RITES HELD TODAY FOR LOCAL MAN

Services were held this afternoon at 2:30 in the chapel of Macy and Sons for John Henderson Ponsford, age 73 years, 6 months and 28 days, who died in McMinnville on September 5. Ponsford was a member of the Cottage Grove Baptist church and belonged to the Elks in McMinnville.

He was born February 7, 1876, in Black Hawk county, Iowa, the son of Walter F. and Alma Backus Ponsford. In 1905 he married Myrtle I. Harris Ponsford, who survives him.

Other survivors are: two sons, Milton Dale Ponsford, McMinnville, and Russell E. Ponsford, San Francisco; and a brother, George F. Ponsford Philomath.

Pallbearers were William Odell, Wallace Towley, Virgil Wolter, Ray Edmunds, W.L. Leonard, and Bernard Christensen.

Interment was in the Evergreen Memorial park with the Reverend Mr. Whirry, Corvallis, officiating.
