Anna Scholten, 85, of Hull died Friday, June 1, 2001, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Carl Klompien officiated. Burial followed at Hope Cemetery in Hull under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Anna was born Oct. 10, 1915,at Rock Valley, the daughter of Thomas and Jenny (Steck) Gerritsen. She was raised in the Rock Valley and Doon area.

On March 17, 1941, she married John H. Scholten in Omaha, Neb. They made their home in Hull where she was a homemaker. Mr. Scholten died May 10,1982, at Sioux City.

In September, 1998, Anna became a resident of Pleasant Acres.

Mrs. Scholten was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church where she participated in the Ladies Aid. She was also a teacher in friendship Bible Study and was a foster grandparent at River Valley School.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Marvin John and Alida Scholten of Maurice, Norman Wayne and Joellen Scholten of Sheldon; a daughter and her husband, Jan and Les Munson of Rock Valley; 11 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and a brother, Albert Gerritsen of Charles City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Case and William Gerritsen; three sisters, Ida Haan, Cora Gerritsen and Elizabeth Morgenstern; a stepbrother, Dick Groen; and a stepsister, Nellie Koning. Memorials may be directed to Friendship Bible Study, Foster Grandparents or Pleasant Acres.
