Elsie Ruth Jones, 85, passed away Sunday, April 19, 1998, in Deer Lodge of natural causes.
Elsie was born October 30, 1912, to David and Marie Antoinette (Tintinger) Nevin in Big Timber.
She married Parker Jones on September 11, 1935, in Billings. They had four boys and one girl. Her daughter Lorraine died in 1963, and Elsie raised Lorraine's son, Scott. Parker preceded her in death in 1979.
Elsie attended high school with her youngest child and graduated at age 41. She went to teacher's college at Easter Montana College in Billings and then taught for 13 years.
Elsie has worked as a cook, teacher, riveter during World War 11, and broke horses. Her pastimes included attending morning news, daily exercises, social time, reading programs, reading Western books, showing horses and other farm animals, church services, and going for rides in the Sunshine Van and to Senior Citizens for lunch.
As we say goodbye to Else, we would like to thank her for being a loving wife of 33 years, mother, grandmother, and a wonderful helper in being a friend.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Jones of Summer, Washington, Buddy Jones of Deer Lodge, Henry Jones of Kirkland, Washington and Edward Jones of Largo Florida.; a brother, T.H. Nevin of Big Timber; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 25 at Lowry Funeral Home. Paster Floyd Sayler, Jr., will officiate the services. Interment will be Mountain View Cemetery.
