Denzil Webb

Denzil Webb, 71, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin and a lifelong resident of Johnson County.

He was born July 4, 1930, in Bud. His parents were Sheridan Kenneth and Clara Myrtle (Webb) Webb. He married Dr. Mary Margaret (Partenheimer) Webb on Sept. 4, 1948, in Franklin. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Stephen D. Webb of Washington; two daughters, Mary Catherine Webb of Atlanta and Judy Joan Webb of West Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dink Webb; and five sisters, Anna Wagerman, Ethel Gibson, Ruby Buchanan, Alpha Gillum and Mildred Clevenger.

He was a 1948 graduate of Franklin High School and attended Indiana Central University.

He was a sheet metal layout engineer at Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1981.

He was a longtime member of Second Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, where he was a former Sunday school superintendent. He was also a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge 107 F&AM, Johnson County Farm Bureau Co-op and Franklin Chapter 439 Order of Eastern Star, where he was a past worthy patron. He was a member and former district committeeman of UAW Local 933 in Indianapolis. He was an avid private pilot, flying all over the United States, the Bahamas and Canada. He also enjoyed horse and buggy pulls by horses that he broke and trained.

The Revs. Geoffrey T. Freeman and Alice Goshorn will conduct a celebration of life service at 4 p.m. today at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.
