OBIT Alma Fannie Henkes-Kurth

Mrs. Alma Kurth, nee Henkes was born on March 2, 1889 in Wagner Twp., Clayton Co., Ia. The daughter of Henry Henkes and Frances Elizabeth "Fanny"Moon.
Her brothers born were: Monroe and Howard Henry, and sisters: Clara Emma, Cora May, Martha Elizabeth, Charlotte Mary, and Emma Ruth Henkes.

In 1900 she lived in the town of St. Olaf, Clayton Co.,Ia.

She was united in marriage to Freddie Kurth Oct. 27, 1909. Living in Wagner Township.

In these six short years of happy life they were blessed with two beautiful little childred Eldon and Irene age four and two years, who with her loving husband, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Henkes, two brothers Monroe and Howard Henkes, three sisters Clara now Mrs. Johnnie Krambeer, Cora Henkes, Lottie now Mrs. Joe Russell and other relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death.

She passed away September 6, 1915 at the age of 26 years, 5 mo, 24 days.

Funeral service was held Thursday September. 9, 1915 at the Roberts Creek Church(Gooding Church) Rev. E. G. Glaeser officiating and the Rev. E. P. Mantofsky preached a consoling sermon of the text, "What think ye of Christ", Matt. 22,44 to the bereaved ad a large concourse of people who had gathered to pay respect to the departed and to sympathize with the mourners. The body was then laid to rest in the Gooding cemetery adjoining the church.

Directions to the Gooding Cemetery are:
X16 north out of Elkader,Ia. It becomes Gunder Rd.then @the junction of B60 & Gunder Rd and Co HwyX16 (North of the Norway Lutheran Church) take X16 North,it becomes Eagle Ave, next take a right on next intersection onto Co Hwy B58 east, and Cemetery is ahead on the left at the next intersection Which is Essex Ave.
