Services for H. A. (Boots) Yankie of China Spring will be 2:30 p.m. today, June 3, 1992, at First Baptist Church of China Spring, Rev. Paul G. Smith and Rev. Earl Lanting officiating. Burial will be in China Spring Cemetery.

Mr. Yankie died Monday in a local hospital in Waco, Texas, on 1 June 1992. He was 76 years old.

Boots was born October 28, 1915, on the Yankie Homeplace in the Erath Community near China Spring, where he lived all of his life. He attended schools in Erath and China Spring. Boots married Opal Florence Anderson on September 21, 1940, in the parsonage of the Baptist preacher in Erath, McLennan County, Texas, on the first day of Autumn.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, trained as a Medic, and attended agricultural school on the GI Bill following his honorable discharge. Mr. Yankie was a member of First Baptist Church in China Spring. Previously he was a member and Deacon at Erath Baptist Church in the Erath Community. Mr Yankie was a member of The Woodmen of the World and the American Dairy Association.

Mr. Yankie was preceeded in death by an infant son, Kenneth Franklin Yankie, his parents, Grover Leo and Zola V Whitfield Yankie of Erath, McLennan County, Texas, and brother Mike ("Hoss"/"Hossie") Yankie of Erath, McLennan County, Texas.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mrs. Opal Anderson Yankie; son, Grover Lee Yankie of Waco, two daughters, one son; brother, Leo Alton Yankie and wife Mrs. Evelyn Rogers Yankie of Waco; two especially close grandchildren, and seven other well-loved grandchildren.

Boots Yankie will be Forever Mourned, Forever Missed and Forever Loved. The loss of our Beloved Father leaves us ever longing to be in his glorious presence again. No one will ever be more missed than by those who were blessed to be able to call Boots Yankie — "Daddy" or "Granddaddy ".

Gravesite Details

Infant Kenneth Franklin Yankie, a devastating loss as the firstborn son, is not included on the headstone with the children who lived to adulthood. His precious remains are buried on hallowed ground, The Yankie Homeplace.
