A TRIBUTE TO MY GRANDFATHER BILL

Earl Bradford was born on July 18, 1908, William and Laura Armstrong Bradford in Alabama and went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on July 24, 1947, in Morgan County, Alabama.

Earl came from a large family of all boys! His brothers were Richard, James Basil "Bose", Edward, David, Walter, Ross, Alvin, and Freeman.

Earl was a loving father, and loving husband. He married the former Stella Voneski on May 3, 1929, and to this union was born two daughters, Mary Helen Bradford (Bostick), who was born on December 19, 1930, and and Dolores Bradford (Graham), who was born on May 27, 1933. Granny always called Earl "BILL"...I asked her why, and she said that he looked like a "Bill" to her and the name "suited" him. Granny never remarried after Earl passed on...she said he was the love of her life, and that he was the only man she ever wanted.

I, his granddaughter Kimberly, youngest daughter of Mary Helen and Lev Bostick, write this memorial in honor of my granddaddy's memory. I wish I could have known him.

Granddaddy worked in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and became sick from the chemicals used on his job. He had just turned 39 years old when he passed on. He was greatly missed by his wife and children. When Dolores had children, she named one of her children Earl in honor of his memory.

I travel to Chattanooga to visit Granddaddy's grave when I can. I always keep in my heart that I did have a loving grandfather- I know as good as he was to my grandmother, mother, and aunt, that he would have been a fun-loving granddaddy. His brother and my uncle, Alvin Bradford, told me when I was 13 years old, "If only your granddaddy could have lived to see you- he would have been crazy about you!" I never forgot that.

I love you, Granddaddy, and I pray to see you in Heaven one day!
