Vida M. Canova, 86, of McKeesport, died Friday, February 11, 2011, at Southwestern Nursing Home. Born July 13, 1924, in Buena Vista, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Ella (Firden) Laughner and wife of the late Louis J. Canova Sr. Mrs. Canova was an employee of the former Vienna Baking Company and later worked in the housekeeping department and as a nurse?s aide at McKeesport Hospital. She was also a member of St. Patrick Church. She is survived by children Rosalie (Duane) Carter of McKeesport and Louis J. (Janet) Canova Jr. of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Duane Carter Jr., April Morgan, Lisa Sokolowski, Dominic Canova and Annette Roupe; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Richard, Melvin ?Whitey? and Earl; and sisters Della LaRosa, Violet Reitz and Ruth Ukasik. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 14, 2011, at 10 a.m. with Father Vincent Velas as celebrant. Visitation was Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in Willig Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will be private in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.
