Ole Gilbert Thompson was the son of Gilbert Torstensen and Maria Olsdtr. He was married to Helena Maria Anderson, and they had twelve children.

Ole G. Thompson, age 68 years, well known and highly esteemed farmer of this place, passed away at his home here, at 5:20 o'clock Monday morning, November 20th, 1922, following an illness of several years from cancer of the stomach. At a number of times during his illness, his condition was very critical, but each time he passed the critical point. Within the past week before his demise, however, he became greatly weakened.

The funeral was held this afternoon. Short services were held at the home at 1 o'clock, the funeral cortege then proceeding to the First Lutheran church. Interment was made in Graceland cemetery. Rev. J.A. Houkom was the officiating minister.

Ole G. Thompson was born at Yellowstone, Wisconsin, on Dec 7th, 1853. On March 23rd, 1875, he was united in marriage to Helena Anderson, at Canton, S.D. After a residence of seven years at Canton, S.D., he moved with his wife and children to Green County, Wis. After making their home for over 20 years on this farm they moved on a farm just on the outskirts of the village in Lafayette county where they have since continually resided for over 20 years. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. Three of them have been called to their reward.

The deceased is survived by his widow and nine children. They are Melvin Thompson, Tokan Creek, Wis.; Tyler Thompson, Black Earth, Wis.; Chas. Thompson, Mrs. John Wahl, Mrs. Alvin Hanson, Mrs. Herman Uren, all of Blanchardville, and Olden, Nettie and Eddie, at home. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Martha Albertson, Parma, Idaho, Mrs. Mary Albertson, LaFeria, Texas, Mrs. Hans Johnson, Dawson, Minn.; one brother Albert Thompson, Canton, S.D.; and 19 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

The subject of this sketch was a kindly father and neighbor. He was a member of the Lutheran church at Blanchardville and was a thorough Christian man. When death knocked at the door he was ready with a smile and faced the inevitable with out complaint and with bravery. His passing was quiet and peaceful. A kind father, a staunch friend and a good Christian man has passed to his reward.
