Joseph F. Fell, 43, a World War veteran and an employe of The Tribune, died at 10:15 o'clock Thursday night in SS. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, Louisville, following an illness from a complication of diseases. Mr. Fell had been connected with The Tribune as a linotype operator for eight years. Prior to that he had been employed in another New Albany printing office for twenty years. A native of New Albany, Mr. Fell was a son of the late Frank Fell and Mrs. Jennie Denison Fell. Surviving besides his mother, are the widow, Mrs. Alena Renn Fell; one brother, Frank Fell, and two sisters, Misses Flora and Mary Fell, all of New Albany. Mr. Fell, who served overseas with the American Expeditionary Forces, was a member of Company D, 115th Infantry, of the 29th Division from Maryland and Virginia. He participated in a number of battles and skirmishes, including in the defense of Haute, Alsace, and at Molbromt Hill, and Motteville Farm. In two engagements Mr. Fell experienced a narrow escape from death. Once he was gassed and at another time he was wounded in the explosion of a shell which claimed the lives of several companions.
