Johann Georg Krieg was born 28 December 1865 in Legelshurst, Baden. He was baptized 7 January 1866 at the Evangelische Kirche in Legelshurst. He married Flora Vollmer, daughter of Frederick Vollmer and Charlotte Apple 1 May 1894 in Peru, Miami County, Indiana. Jonathan, as he was called, owned and operated a tavern in Peru. He also played in a band and requested that the band play at his funeral. The band followed the family as they left the house for the church and on to the cemetery. Jonathan died 10 October 1911, Peru, Miami County, Indiana, age 45 years 10 months 13 days, from injuries he received when he was struck by a streetcar while on his way home from work. He was buried at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Peru. Jonathan and Flora had six children: Milton Johannes Krieg married Clarissa Stegman, Elsa "Elsie" Dorothy Krieg married Milo Glen Dancey, Elmer Jacob Krieg never married, Esther Krieg died young, Elmer W. Krieg never married and Harold Henry Krieg married1) Marjorie Exie Stanley, married2) Betty Graleau.
