She was born Oct. 12, 1921, in Elwood, to the late Henry and Agnes (Reese) Imboden.
She was born and raised at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood where she was May Queen. She enjoyed quilting and taking care of her dogs.
She is survived by two sons, David L. Harney and Steven E. Harney, both of Anderson; a daughter, Maureen (husband, Bill) Catron of New Castle; four grandchildren, Lori Harney (husband, Kevin) Russell of Punta Gorda, Fla., Christine (Rick) Bryant of Anderson, Steven M. (Patty) Harney of Noblesville, and Jason (Michelle) Collins of Chrisman, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Taylor, Makahla, Adam, Ian Orion, Cameron and Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth L. Harney, in August of 1982. Kenneth and Vera were married on May 3, 1941.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Saint John's Health System as well as the Saint John's Hospice.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
