He was a Vestryman of Truro Parish, Pohick Church, and friend of Geo Washington (future U.S. President) who replaced William as vestryman in 1762. William married Elizabeth Arrington, but Sarah was listed as the mother of his two youngest children in Truro Parish vestry minutes:

William Sr.'s will mentions that land as purchased by his father from Wansford Arrington, and given to William Jr. by Sr.'s father.]
