EX-MAYOR OF BINGEN DIES
Masonic funeral services for Richard (Dick) Leet, 82, mayor of Bingen from 1944-1948, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Gardners Chapel. Officers of Masonic Lodge No. 163 of White Salmon officiated. Mr. Leet was Master of this lodge in 1941. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner affiliated with Afifi Temple of Tacoma, member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 107, and Elks Lodge 1052 of Bemidji, Minnesota. Masonic casket bearers were Amos Larson, Clarence Johnson, Dick Mitchell, Willis Gross, Rel Vigus and Jack Roberts; (honorary) R. F. Niblock, Steve Wnuk, Fred Frazier, Sr., Wm. Manley, Sr., Robert DeYoe and Tom Nordby.
Mr. Leet was born Jan. 29, 1880 at Neby, Minnesota. He came to Washington in 1922. From 1922-1925 he was superintendent of the lumber mill at Glenwood, and from 1925-27 operated the Nordby mill just north of White Salmon and after-wards at Bingen which has been his home for the past 35 years.
He was a veteran of the Spanish American War. For the past five years he has been a patient at Barnes Veterans Hospital, Vancouver where he died last Saturday, Feb. 3.
He is survived by his widow, Sarah of Bingen; daughter, Mrs. Carl (Ruby) Millington of Cathedral City, Calif.; and a brother, Norman Leet of Vancouver, B.C
