Retired SFC John R. Brinkley, 55, of Cleveland, GA died on November 24, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA following a short illness. Born in Santa Rosa, CA, John was the youngest son of the late Raymond and Geneva Brinkley.
John proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army. John was awarded the Bronze Star for service during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. John was a very compassionate man with a big heart. He truly enjoyed helping others, and he will be greatly missed by many. His sister, Barbara, would like to mention that Johnny was the best brother that anyone could ever have – and she misses him tremendously.
John is survived by his wife Alice (Cookie) Brinkley of Cleveland, GA and his much loved dog, Sonoma; children, daughter Michelle Langille and granddaughter Mikayla of Richland, NC, daughter Wynter Moody and grandsons Tyler and Gage of Dahlonega, GA; sons Jonathan Brinkley, and Thomas Brinkley of Texas; sisters, Barbara Alvarez of Hillsboro, OR and Mary Denton of Fernley, NV; brothers, Tom Brinkley of Beckville, TX and Ray Brinkley of Vancouver, WA.
