~ MY GRANDMOTHER ~
My grandmother & I talked about her upbringing and how it was expected that ladies learn piano, painting, and refinement. Her china painting was outstanding and circled the dining room on a plate rail. Fruit was always the theme. My aunt told me that because of her mother's beautiful penmanship, the local high schools would enlist her help to fill out graduation certificates. Mac, her second husband was an attorney, the one who handled her divorce. Well, a romance ensued between the two of them and it was a wonderful match. They were a pair by the time I was born. All three of Sisso's children had great respect for him.
I recall the Christmas stockings you made...all embellished with sequins & beads & appliques. You sent them to Eureka for the 3 of us. You must have learned that we had moved to a house with a fireplace! On my dad's, you had sewn the old brass tag from his childhood dog, Ginger. That was my 1st realization of Dad having a life before - ME.
Sisso's first husband & the father of her children was: George C. Wahl - They were married at: Shawnee County Kansas - April 2, 1907 - Catholic Church
I still have your beautiful pink shell cameo that you gave to me, so long ago...GJW
