Birth: Apr. 6, 1905
Eddy County
New Mexico, USA
Death: May 23, 1980
Sacramento County
California, USA

Charles was the eighth child in a family of eleven children born to Columbus R. Sims of MS and Mary E Buck of TX. The cattle ranching crew left NM for CA in time for Charles to become a fan of the big bands of the 20s and he enjoyed meeting many of those band leaders and the early stars of TV.

In CA Charles became a commercial fisherman as did several of his siblings. Married at the age of 36, he and his wife opened a bait and tackle store on Pacific Coast Hwy. just South of Long Beach, CA. His sister Ethel and her husband became partners in the business and, working together, this store served to provide for themselves and their families for the rest of their working lives.

Charles and wife Estelle raised a family of five, including a son, G J Sims, and daughters Patricia, Betty, Linda and Mary Sims.

Charles foremost interests were first his family and then sport fishing. The family enjoyed having relatives around and often played spirited games of cards at which Charles was usually the supreme winner.

Charles is entombed at Sierra Hills Memorial Park, Sacramento City, Sacramento Co., CA alongside his wife, brother, sister, brother-in-law and grandson.
