John D. Chesnut, 83, died Sunday at Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born in Lyons, Indiana, the son of Louis D. and Juanita (Roach) Chesnut.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with grandchildren, and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
He was a member of Muncie Lodge #433, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and a Shriner with Murat Temple of Indianapolis.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Martha, Muncie; one daughter, Elizabeth Pino, Muncie; a son, John D. Chesnut, Jr.; two grandchildren, David and Zachery Pino, Muncie; and two nephews, Mike and Tom Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Phillip Chesnut; and three sisters, Mary Ann Chesnut, Janet Wilson, and Nancy LaWall.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Elm Ridge Mausoleum, with Muncie Masonic Lodge #433 officiating.
Family and friends may call Friday from 12:30 until 1 p.m. at the mausoleum. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
