Mrs. Sarah Louvenia Bowling
Died Wednesday, March 29,1922, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James A. Lamar, near Crossville. Cause of death heart failure. She had been in ill heath several months, aged 71 years and 7 months.
She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Lamar, and seven grandchildren.
Deceased was born in Kentucky, August 29, 1850, being the daughter of James and Margaret Donovan. Her parents moved to Mt. Vernon, Ind. When she was five years of age. She attended the public schools there and later was a student of Notre Dame University where she graduated.
She was married in 1866 to Robert L. Allen at Mt. Vernon, Ind. To this Union four children were born of whom only one, Mrs. Margaret Lamar survives. Two sons, William and Leroy Allen died in infancy. Mrs. Lulu Clifford, wife of E.O. Clifford of Phillipstown, died January 30, 1919.
Mr. Allen died in the year 1881. The widowed mother bravely shoulder the burden of bringing up her infant daughters and by faithful labor succeeded in providing an excellent home for them..
When about16 years of age she was married to Anthony Bowling of Dale, Ill. This marriage was a happy and peaceful one and the couple were inseparable until the death of Mr. Bowling about one month ago.
Mrs. Bowling was highly educated and was quite a refined person. She had great strength of character and intelligence. She was university loved for her charm of manner and her warm and generous nature.
For more than 40 years she was a member of the M.E. church and lived a devoted and consecrated christian life.
Funeral services will be held at Centerville at 10 o'clock a.m. Saturday, conducted by Rev. Height of Mill Shoals. Interment in a cemetery near the church.
